Although the Manta was withdrawn in 1988, the UK in the late 80s, the cars remained popular for many years after that.

In 1991, the German language film Manta Manta celebrated the popularity of the models with a race between the popular Opel and other makes.  The wide body Mattig Manta pictured here is one of three built for the film.
