You need two packs per car.  This will improve road holding, ensuring the wheels stay in contact with the ground for longer when running at speed, increasing handling precision.

If you have the brushless version of the car, you may already have these as a small number of cars seem to have come from the factory with them already fitted.  The giveaway that you have oil dampers rather than just springs is that the car will slowly return to normal height when pressed down - whereas with standard springs, the return is very fast as there is nothing to restrict the movement.
