Time Tunnel was established in 1997 in Hertfordshire, England with initially a small high street store and shortly after a much larger precinct shop. We expanded to our current warehouse store in East Lothian in 2008, closing the second and final of the Herfordshire branches in 2010. Initially we stocked models and toys for all ages but by the year 2000 moved to stocking the ranges of collectors models, radio control, railways and slot racing you see today.
As a family owned and operated business, you are not dealing with a faceless corporate structure or an overblown warehousing operation interested only in shifting boxes - instead we carefully choose which products are stocked so that we can give knowledgeable advice on each product and will provide honest answers to any questions without attempting to upsell. For this reason we do not list everything we can obtain, but only those items that we actually stock or can be sure to be able to obtain quickly - and these are shown clearly at checkout before you commit. The only exception to this is RC spare parts where we list complete ranges and allow back orders - something which isn't very common with spares and contributes to the often-held belief that "you can't get the parts".
Why "Time Tunnel"? The original idea was to recreate the popular toy and model shops of the 1960s to 1980s before the American giants opened in the UK - which both our original locations did. Our current store at Fenton Barns is laid out as a warehouse shop where we welcome visitors Tuesday to Friday between the hours of 10am and 4pm.
Special ordering service: In addition to items shown on this site we can also obtain with very short lead times any product shown on the websites of the major UK trade distributors The Hobby Company, CML Distribution, J Perkins, John Ayrey, Hornby, Traxxas, Airfix, Corgi, Scalextric and Bachmann Europe. There are other brands but they take longer to arrive such as Kyosho, Absima, and the Vestergaard brands from Denmark consisting of HPI, Maverick, Blackzon and similar.
