The new decoder offers a number of advantages over other types notably:
- Its compact layout and small size (15mm long and 9.5mm wide) is
similar in size to the existing 6PIN decoder. However, it removes the
need for the pins sticking out which can easily be bent and is therefore
smaller overall than the 6PIN type.
- It avoids the need to solder speaker wires or auxiliary function wires to the decoder.
- It offers greater flexibility over previous types.
Next 18 is a standard (MOROP / NEM 662) and not a brand and is supported by most of the European decoder suppliers.
