Turns - for an explanation click here. The following speed controllers are usually all in stock in good quantities.
Quick Guide Standard Motors: If you have the standard SILVER can motor, as included in most kits, we suggest the Eco27 (forward/reverse 27t limit) or TEU101BK (forward/break 23t lightly tuned motor limit) speed controls. If the car is an off-roader experience suggests that the Eco27 may cut out when negotiating wet ground or longer grass and that an Eco20 or TEU101BK is better in these circumstances. If you've put the Tamiya Sport Tune motor in your car, this is a 23 turn motor so you can't use it with an Eco27, you need an Eco20 or a TEU101BK. Note the Eco ESCs have a reverse delay - i.e. the car must stop before you can reverse, the TEU101BK you can slam into reverse by moving the stick into the reverse (brake) segment, back to neutral and then back to reverse. Which is better is personal preference.
Quick Guide Upgraded Motors: It is best to allow some degree of extra capacity on an ESC to avoid it cutting out as your motor wears and/or in other high load situations. Therefore, if you have a 15x2 motor, you would find using an 11 or 12 turn ESC may be more long lived and less likely to cut out than using a 15 turn ESC which would be right on the limit. If you're buying a motor and an ESC, choose your motor first and your ESC second for this reason.
Warranty Upgrade: All Mtroniks ESCs are covered by a 2 year return-to-maker warranty - so keep your receipt and the packaging the ESC came in! The Tamiya, Carson and Acoms ESCs are covered by a 3 month warranty but this does not cover failures due to water ingress or overloading.

REVERSE, For Tamiya Silver & Black Motors Difference between this and the TEU101BK version is that this has adjustable end points for forward and reverse throw, and features a battery cut off facility to avoid over discharge of the LF and LIPO battery pack (LF is a Tamiya brand product which isn't sold in the UK). Can be used to replace TEU101BK on a like for like basis. Very easy to set up and use. The TEU104BK benefits from a quick-action full power reverse (pull the stick back twice to enter reverse, regardless of whether the car has stopped going forward) and a "transmitter off" alarm. Reverse may be disabled for racing purposes. This item is UK version, supplied bagged rather than boxed. RRP £37.50. |
