Tamiya Radio Control are high performance kit cars - you must assemble all parts yourself. If you do not feel capable of assembling these kits, take a look at Tamiya's own Ready to Run QD & XB cars.

Skill required is similar to basic mechanical work - if you can change plugs and brake pads on a real car, you should be able to build a kit. All car kits require Radio (includes control box, receiver, switch/BEC and servo), Nimh battery, ESC and Charger to function, which are included in deals - you will need a craft knife, cross head screwdriver and pliers, plus paint and 8xAA batteries for the controller to complete model.

Unless stated otherwise, all deals include an Overnight charger. Charger options can be found underneath each item.

CUSTOM OPTION: More experienced? Kit Only? Custom Radio/Battery/Charger options? We have simplified our options and given more choice at the same time - if you wish to buy just a KIT, choose the CUSTOM option of any car, you can then choose whether you want an ESC included or not, and whether you want batteries, chargers etc. All prices shown on this page as CUSTOM are for the kit WITHOUT any ESC / Radio / etc - these can be added from the drop down options at the bottom of each item listing on our basket site, or just specified as required if using our order forms.

Tamiya ESC: Where selected this may be a Tamiya TEU101BK OR TEU104BK unit. Varies due to stock availability - if a specific unit is required, please advise using the notes section on your order.

Sport20 ESC: We generally recommend using the Mtroniks Sport 20 ESC for beginners as it's both waterproof and easier to set up. This is the ESC we include in both our Beginner's Deal Options above.

A simplified assembly process where parts are packed in the order you'll need them minimises any confusion, the body is pre-coloured bright orange and needs no painting - just stick on the stickers! Tamiya 58336 The Hornet	Chassis: Rear Drive, Classic Chassis. Reissue of 1984 Model!
Click picture for larger view.	Debuting in 1984, the RC hornet - the car that produced the boom of 2 WD off road cars - has returned in it's original form. Utilizing the light weight design of the original model, this RC assembly kit does not care where it runs - either on road or off road. Total length 400mm, total height 150mm, width 230mm, built weight 874g. Made from high grade plastic in all components from the suspension arm to the gear box, bath tub chassis etc and being lightweight, it maximises body rigidity giving a strong model. Suspension on the front is a swing axle independent system damped by coil springs, the rolling rigid rear axle is supported with oil damper units to absorb heavier bumps. The design keeps sand out of the gearbox and the direct vent system on the gearbox allows air to pass in and out but shuts out the invasion of the small stones which could enter when driving off road. Inside is a differential gear which allows smooth cornering. Front wheels feature the classic grooved tyre and the rear wheels have superior traction with high grip spiked tyres installed. As for the body, it's polycarbonate which is strong enough to survive light shocks. Chassis construction - the bumper is made of a special resin. Front suspension is of swing axle independent type supported by friction dampers. Front grooved tyre is hollow. Wheels are 3 piece type with fitted bearings at the front and adjustable via ball adjuster steering tracking position. The ABS resin chassis is of the bathtub type which has high strength as is the side bumper. 540 type motor and oil damper unit for the rear suspension included as standard. REISSUE. The Frog has been updated with new design TRF style shock absorbers and standard dog-bone and cups to overcome two of the limitations of the original design.

Side support bars have been added to the frame to heighten the overall rigidity and enhance Willy's "stunt vehicle" realism. The gearbox comes pre-assembled, allowing the user to easily remove it for maintenance, without taking apart the frame. The running battery is positioned lengthwise toward the rear of the chassis, providing the ideal balance for outstanding wheelie action. The steering servo is mounted centrally on the chassis and holds two steering tie rods of equal length, which control the left/right steering, ensuring reliable handling. With the front and rear wheels each having a dedicated electric motor providing power, the 4WD system enables dynamic performance and high-mobility. Massive 130mm diameter lug pattern spike tires and 4-wheel double wishbone suspension gives this racing truck the ability to blast through any terrain. The heaviest component, the battery, is located in the centre of the chassis, with motors to the front and rear. Steering servo is also centrally positioned, for optimum weight balance and superior control and handling. The flexible 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension with friction dampers is ready to handle all manner of driving conditions. Sealed front and rear diff gearboxes are pre-built, and may be removed without disassembling chassis, for excellent maintainability. Newly-developed twin-motor ESC ensures safe and consistent running while the racing truck body and wing are made from lightweight polycarbonate. This chassis design is by far the best offroader in Tamiya's range - they can handle grass, mud, earth and tarmac in virtually equal quantities - if in any doubt about which model to go for, we recommend going for this - it has power and driveability meaning that you can run it virtually anywhere! About the Subaru BRAT The Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter was created by Subaru in the late 1970s from their earlier 4WD station wagon model for the US market. Powered by a flat-four engine ranging from 1.6 to 1.8 litres in displacement, this pickup had the unique feature of having jump seats welded to the truck bed, which allowed it to be imported as a car instead of a truck. One of the cars more famous owners was former US President Ronald Reagan, whose red BRAT is restored and displayed at his former residence in California. Tamiya 58469 Ford Bronco CC01	Chassis: Cross Country 4WD
Click picture for larger view.	The Ford Bronco is a famous American 4X4 off-road vehicle. This 1970's model was among the first series called "Early Bronco" which were produced during 1965-1977. Three types of bodies were released; the fully-open "Roadster," the single cabin pick-up "Utility," and the "Wagon" which had a resin roof. The body featured triangular protrusions on both sides on the curved front hood which worked well as a guide for drivers to accurately measure the body size while driving. The front suspension features coil springs combined with the rigid axle, which was a first for mass-produced 4X4 vehicles and works well both on-road and off-road. The Bronco is still greatly popular around the world, particularly in America, where many are used as cross-country and rock crawling vehicles. About the Model All-new DB01 chassis locates heavy components such as battery and motor near the center for optimum weight distribution. Race-proven and reliable 2-belt driven 4WD system is completely enclosed with ABS resin covers to prevent dirt and debris from interfering with drivetrain operations. Chassis features integrated bulkheads, which reduces the number of parts and simplifies maintenance. The chassis layout features a longitudinally-mounted battery with R/C units placed on either side for optimum balance. It is designed to offer low center gravity with plenty of ground clearance. The motor is mounted at the rear to maximize traction and acceleration. This machine is perfect for drivers who are just getting into the off-road R/C scene and can serve as a great base for later upgrades. Tamiya celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Sand Scorcher with an improved re-release of the model. The new improvements include more fine tuned parts. Just as the original, the updated Sand Scorcher features ribbed front tires and paddle rear tires. The Ford Bronco is a famous American 4X4 off-road vehicle. This 1970's model was among the first series called "Early Bronco" which were produced during 1965-1977. Three types of bodies were released; the fully-open "Roadster," the single cabin pick-up "Utility," and the "Wagon" which had a resin roof. The body featured triangular protrusions on both sides on the curved front hood which worked well as a guide for drivers to accurately measure the body size while driving. The front suspension features coil springs combined with the rigid axle, which was a first for mass-produced 4X4 vehicles and works well both on-road and off-road. The Bronco is still greatly popular around the world, particularly in America, where many are used as cross-country and rock crawling vehicles.

On the Bronco's body you will find the typical detail you expect from Tamiya. With raised details, like door Hinges and marker lights to the rear ford tailgate letters.

Included are newly designed metal plated H Parts (Grille, side mirrors and light covers) made from durable ABS resin.

Tamiya 58489 Avante	Chassis: 4WD Race Bred 1988 Reissue
Click picture for larger view.	In March 1988, Tamiya released an electric R/C 4WD racing buggy called the "Avante" and it has since become a special machine in Tamiya's R/C history. The machine featured a unique shaft-driven 4WD system which was taken from Tamiya's first 4WD R/C buggy, the Hotshot. It also featured a highly sophisticated design including a FRP double-deck chassis layout, longitudinal motor & battery positions, and a formula-type body with chassis fairing. It was equipped with innovative components such as a compact gearbox with 3 small planetary gears, a center diff to increase stability, a fully adjustable suspension, and cam-lock wheel caps. The Avante was a distinctive R/C machine which featured an innovative design. After 20 years, some of the Avante's mechanisms have become standard features on modern R/C cars. The ultimate pure racing buggy returns in 2011. Tamiya has given the Avante (2011) the special re-release treatment just like other re-released buggies such as the Buggy Champ and Hotshot. Here is a brief introduction of the improved points. Specs & Features Main frame material has been changed from FRP to carbon fiber. Original FRP upper/lower decks have been replaced with 2.0mm thick carbon fiber decks to further increase chassis strength and rigidity. Chassis layout is optimized for installing modern R/C equipment. Carbon Fiber Rear Damper Stay Rear damper stay is thicker than the original and its material has also been changed to carbon fiber. Left and right stays are connected to further increase rigidity. Assembly Universal Shafts WO universal shafts are used for both front and rear to reduce friction loss. Easier Damper Maintenance The gold-colored oil damper cylinders feature bottom caps for easier maintenance such as replacing o-rings. Durable Polycarbonate Body Shell The body, wing, and chassis fairing have been made with polycarbonate for superb off-road durability. Wheel Axle/Clamp Type Wheel Hubs Wheel axles have been changed to standard pin-secured type. In conjunction with aluminum wheel hubs, secure wheel attachment is possible. The hex wheel hubs enable attachment of off-road wheels such as Item 53880 Large Dish Wheels (4WD/Front, 62/25) and Item 53881 Large Dish Wheels (Rear, 62/35) in addition to the original cam-lock type wheels. Duralumin front knuckles The original die-cast front knuckles have been replaced with duralumin knuckles to further increase strength and durability. New knuckles feature the same shape as the original. Compatible with a wide range of battery packs. The Avante (2011) is compatible with a wide range of Tamiya battery products such as Ni-Cd, high-capacity Ni-MH, and lightweight LF battery packs. Latest R/C Systems The Avante is compatible with all Tamiya R/C systems including the 2.4GHz systems. The Original Packaging is also Revived! The package for this re-release model comes with the same design and dimensions as the original Avante. In addition, just like the original Avante, all the parts are stored in blister packs. ADD LED LIGHTS (SOLD SEPERATELY) Use Multi-Function Unit to depict working headlights, tail lights and roll bar lights for even more incredible realism. (Multi-Function Unit includes LED lights). This Multi Function Unit will bring even more enjoyment to the operation of the R/C Ford F350. Featuring realistic sound effects recorded from actual vehicles, controllable LED lights and other movement effects, this unit will greatly expand the potential of your Ford F350. This will connect into the receiver unit on the truck - this is why a 4 channel radio is suggested, even though the 4th channel at this stage isn't used. Durable and realistic ladder frame consists of steel channel and resin cross member. F/R propeller shafts feature universal joint to efficiently transmit power even if suspension is moving up and down. QUICK BATTERY HOLDER Battery held in low position for excellent weight balance and stability. Easy access holder allows running battery to be exchanged without removing body. 4WS STEERING ROD 4 wheel steering can be enabled by adding kit supplied rear axle tension rod. 4-wheel steering enables even tighter turning radius, perfect when using truck indoors or in confined space. WHEELS & TYRES Newly designed monster truck tyres feature lug pattern suited for driving on rough surfaces. Apply cement to wheels and tires when running on rough terrain. Worn out wheel hubs can be replaced with #53056 Pin type Wheel Adapter. 3-SPEED TRANSMISSION Newly designed 3-speed transmission provides smooth low speed running, and allows gear changing while running. Low gear > 2nd gear > Top gear 1:64.39 > 1:35.20 > 1:21.14 SLIPPER CLUTCH Includes slipper clutch as standard part to protect gears during tough off-road running. DIFFERENTIAL GEAR Durable resin gear case with integrated die-cast differential gear. DIFFERENTIAL LOCK Differential lock, essential for driving on rough roads, may be easily enabled by simply removing F/R diff case covers and removing screw pins. By using differential lock, drive power is transmitted even if wheels on one side are not grounded. LEAF SPRING SUSPENSION F/R suspension with friction dampers allows tension adjustment by altering number of leaf springs. FRICTION DAMPERS Features red anodized aluminum cylinder. Damping effect can be adjusted by applying separately available Friction Damper Grease and adding o-rings. Select according to ground conditions and leaf spring number. Standard: normal running Default settings. Soft: low-speed, high grip running Use 2 leaf springs and adjust tension using damper grease (soft) #53174. Hard: stable and high-speed running Use 5 leaf springs and apply damper grease (medium) #53175 or (hard) #53176. BEARINGS Kit includes a total of 42pcs of bearings (35pcs x 1150, 4pcs x 1260, 2pcs x 850 size metal and 1pc of 1050 size ball bearings). Metal bearings require periodic application of grease to maintain performance. Separately available ball bearings do not require this treatment, and are highly recommended. It is not recommended that any faster motor is used There is some debate as to whether a crawling motor would be suitable with the drive train. UK Importer recommends use of Acoms AP401 4ch stick type transmitter with slide trim for ease of gear change when running and future upgradeability to MFU system. 2ch R/C unit cannot be used as it cannot shift gears. PCM type receiver may not be used as it may cause radio interference when using with separately available Multi Function Unit. ELECTRONIC SPEED CONTROLLER Use high power type ESC with reverse function (maximum continuous current: forward 120A, reverse 60A, FET regulation). A high-spec ESC is especially recommended when running on rough terrain. SERVO While standard type steering servo is sufficient, high torque servo may be beneficial when running on rough terrain. Use of ITEM 50473 High Torque Servo Saver White or ITEM 51000 High Torque Servo Saver Black will further improve efficacy. Tamiya recommend you do not use non standard sized or high speed servos. LIGHT EFFECTS

10 types of high-brightness LEDs (including optional LEDs) for a total of up to 33 lights can be controlled to depict various realistic light actions while driving. They can also light up in pre-set patterns during Demo Mode for a brilliant shelf display.
